Hudson, day 2

Hudson was doing about the same when we went and saw him this morning in the NICU. They have 3 specefic times that you can come and help care for your child and hold him. I got to change his diaper, take his temperature, and hold him. He is most peaceful when you are holding him. Luckily, he had many loved ones hold him today including his parents and grandparents. He still makes the grunting sound that tells the doctor he still has fluid on his lungs. Sometimes he gasps for breath when he has been crying a lot, which makes him breath fast and he makes the grunting sound. His nurse said she was getting in trouble with the other nurses because Hudson was making too much noise. She finally kept him swaddled which quieted him down, a little. He was not able to start eating today because his breathing was not regular yet. He is still on a high dose of IV fluids to keep his blood sugar up. I did find out some sad news today. Hudson will not be going home with me on Friday. He has to start eating on his own which will start when the doctor thinks that the fluid is gone from around his lungs. So, the prayer for tonight is that he will be able to start eating tommorow morning what I have been pumping along with formula suppliments. If he starts eating tomorrow morning, the earliest he can come home is Sunday. Some good news is that tonight, he was moved to the progressive side if the NICU which is a step in the right direction. Brent and I got to spend a lot of time with him today. I don't know what the nurse was talking about when she said he has been crying very loudly. He was very good when we were around him and holding him. Abby is too young to go in and see him but she got to see him through the doors. She wanted Hudson to come out and play with her. He will be able to soon enough. I want to thank you for all the calls, comments, text messages, and visits. It's great to be supported by family and friends. I know it will just take time, but it's so hard to be patient when it involves your very own newborn. Here are some pictures from our day.

Ashley, I don't know if you remember but when Morgan was born she had a high fever. I too had to leave her at the hospital... it's so incredibly hard. He stay was 9 days and it was one of the hardest things I've ever faced. Please know that I will be praying for y'all and for Hudson's lungs to clear. Try to rest while you can. I'll be praying for his lungs to clear so he can eat. Love you guys!!
